New York Times bestselling author Jon Acuff is giving a keynote at Conga Connect Vegas (agenda and registration information here)!
No, not the kind of goals that soccer players make, but the kind we set every day, every week, every year. Think about your New Year’s resolutions from the beginning of 2017. Are you sticking to them? Do you even remember what they were?
According to a study conducted by the University of Scranton, 92% of goals fail.
That’s a shocking number. And this doesn’t just apply to personal goals; it is true for professional and workplace goals as well. New York Times bestselling author Jon Acuff has found that you actually have a greater shot of getting into Julliard to become a ballerina than hitting your next goal, be it a sales goal, or a goal to reduce your budget. The ability to set and attain goals really does matter, which makes this is a troubling statistic.
Acuff’s latest book, Finish, takes a look at how we can do simple things to improve our attainment of goals and succeed at finishing what we start. If we can do that, all of those incomplete projects and tasks would become opportunities, rather than things we dread. Acuff’s method applies not only to individuals, but to organizations and corporate cultures, as well. He approaches the ability to consistently finish as an attainable skill, and not just an innate gift.
If you want to learn more, keep in mind that Acuff will be a keynote speaker at Conga Connect Las Vegas, our user event taking place October 3-4 (find out more and register here, if you haven’t yet).
