It’s National Simplicity Day.

On a personal level, it might be a day to reflect on what you can eliminate from your life – all of the little things that keep you busier than you want to be and distract you from reflecting on what’s really important. We can all use a little more of that kind of simplicity.

It’s a great idea to think about what simplicity can mean for your business, as well. At the very least, simplicity means taking out things that aren’t needed.

BEFORE – Messy and complex

Here are some areas where you might be able to simplify in your business:

Too many manual steps required:

Any process that requires your employees to do everything by hand tends to cause headaches, introduce errors, and be slow and inefficient. For instance, a salesperson has to create a quote by copying and pasting CRM data into a Word document, email it to the customer, get it back with redlines, and record those changes back into the CRM. This takes a lot of the rep’s time, without any of those steps adding to core selling activities or the bottom line.

Multiple, disparate systems:

Are your employees having to move back and forth from an ERP system to Salesforce to Excel to Word to email and back again when they put together a quote, report, or any other client-facing document? If so, that process is slow and disjointed, inefficient, and opaque.

Lack of control and visibility:

If there are too many systems at play, leadership may not have any control over specific steps in the process. Things get done any which way, with each individual going through his or her own inconsistent processes. There is no visibility into how processes are functioning in your business and how they can be improved.

AFTER – Simple

All of these problems can be solved with integrated, automated solutions that will make everyone’s lives easier – and yes, simpler. You can set up a series of applications that all integrate with your CRM to remove manual steps, create a consistent workflow, and vastly improve efficiency and business insights.

Areas where automation can make the most difference include:

Solid data management, with a solution like Conga ActionGrid, which ensures that it’s easy to update CRM data, so that updates are quick, efficient, and the data that’s in Salesforce is accurate.

Your clean data can then be used to create professional, consistent, on-brand templated documents with a document generation solution like Conga Composer, that then automatically stores those documents in your CRM.

Seamless contract management allows you to manage the entire contract lifecycle either from an integrated SaaS platform (in the case of Conga Novatus) or from within Salesforce (Conga Contracts), or with a combination of the two solutions.

So, it’s time to make it simple with clean, automated end-to-end business processes that eliminate steps, accelerate cycles, and free up your team to focus on the important stuff. Where can you start? Learn more here about some common manual processes and how you can automate them.
